DESCRIPTION: Are you planning to rely on a commercial IRB for your next study, or just want a better understanding of how the process works? This training provides an overview of the pathway for the UC Davis IRB to cede review to a commercial IRB, including key terms, how to initiate a reliance agreement, what still needs to be submitted locally, and common areas where researchers get tripped up.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
- Define key terms used in the IRB reliance process
- Apply “local context” requirements when initiating a study in which the UC Davis IRB relies on a commercial IRB
- Distinguish which post-approval submissions must be submitted to the UC Davis IRB when relying on a commercial IRB
- Identify common missteps in the process for relying on a commercial IRB
